SECI Strengthens Support for Ukraine with Humanitarian Aid and Partnership Efforts
The Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI), led by Michael Joseph Fazekas, has donated generators now powering hospitals, schools, and shelters across eastern and southern Ukraine. In partnership with UAid Direct, SECI continues to provide vital humanitarian aid, support refugee centers across Europe, and build long-term partnerships for Ukraine’s reconstruction and integration into European networks. Together, we’re turning solidarity into action—bringing light, heat, and hope to those who need it most.

We are deeply grateful to the Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI), led by Executive Coordinator Mr. Michael Joseph Fazekas, for their outstanding support and generous donation of generators that have been deployed across the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.

These generators are making a tangible difference—keeping hospitals, schools, and shelters powered in areas where infrastructure has been severely damaged by ongoing hostilities. Their impact is immediate and life-saving, bringing light, heat, and hope to communities that need it most.

Standing with Ukraine Through Action

In a recent interview with Ukrinform, Mr. Fazekas reaffirmed SECI’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Ukrainian people until complete victory is achieved over Russian aggression. He emphasized that “SECI cannot stand aside” in the face of such devastation, describing Ukraine’s fight not only as a national struggle but as a defense of European democracy and human dignity.

Since the start of the war, SECI has funded and managed humanitarian centers for Ukrainian refugees in Romania, Hungary, and Moldova. These centers—located in Siret, Budapest, Zahony, Palanca, and Chisinau—have provided safe shelter, medical assistance, and administrative support to over 1.5 million displaced Ukrainians. The initiative has already distributed over €3 million in aid, and continues to help families transition to safety and stability while preparing for their eventual return home.

Building Bridges Between Governments and Communities

During SECI’s recent visit to Ukraine, UAid Direct and our partners were honored to help coordinate meetings with local mayors, decision-makers, and beneficiary organizations. By connecting international organizations like SECI with trusted regional networks, we help ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, quickly and transparently.

This collaboration also strengthens long-term cooperation—laying the groundwork for future projects in reconstruction, infrastructure, and economic recovery. Mr. Fazekas highlighted SECI’s ongoing work to integrate Ukraine into European transport and energy networks, including initiatives to link Ukrainian rail systems with major EU corridors.

A Shared Vision for Ukraine’s Future

SECI, established in 1996 and composed of 29 OSCE member states, was originally created to promote economic and social development in Southeast Europe following the war in Yugoslavia. Today, the organization has adapted its mission to meet the urgent needs of Ukraine. Through its Economic Advisory Council, SECI is helping to attract private sector investment and coordinate multinational efforts that will drive Ukraine’s post-war recovery.

As Mr. Fazekas noted, Ukraine’s eventual reconstruction will be the largest economic project in Europe since 1945—an opportunity not only to rebuild but to transform. SECI aims to play a vital role in this transformation, connecting political will with business expertise and humanitarian action.

United for Impact

At UAid Direct, we are honored to partner with organizations like SECI that share our belief in sustainable, transparent, and locally guided aid delivery.

Thanks to their donation of generators and ongoing cooperation, we continue to bridge international goodwill with local action—turning solidarity into real impact on the ground.

We look forward to strengthening this partnership and to a future where collaboration, compassion, and commitment rebuild what war has torn apart.
