When art meets courage, the result is more than music — it’s testimony.

In 2024, American-Ukrainian artist Kelsie Kimberlin joined UAid Direct volunteers on a powerful journey across Ukraine. Her latest release, “Dream of Peace,” is not just a song — it’s a cinematic plea for humanity, filmed in Kyiv during one of the heaviest nights of Russian air strikes.

While missiles and drones filled the sky, Ukrainian crews continued to work behind cameras and consoles, creating light in the darkest of nights. The video — shot at One Location Studio in Kyiv — merges surreal visuals of ruins and rebirth, becoming a haunting prayer for peace.

“Let peace be more than a dream.”

Kelsie Kimberlin, Dream of Peace

Kimberlin’s collaboration with Ukrainians went far beyond performance. Every part of the project — production, sound, mixing — involved Ukrainian talent who refused to let war silence their creativity. Together, they transformed defiance into art.

Music as a Mirror of War

To Ukrainians, Dream of Peace arrived at a time of exhaustion and endurance. More than 1,300 days into Russia’s full-scale invasion, the nation continues to face relentless bombardment. In that context, Kimberlin’s voice carries both sorrow and strength — a reminder that even when diplomacy fails, humanity still sings.

Publications from France to the U.S. have called the song a “universal hymn,” while Ukrainian listeners hear validation — proof that their struggle, pain, and resilience are still being seen.

Cultural Diplomacy in Action

“Dream of Peace” joins a long lineage of songs that stand for justice — from Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind to Holiday’s Strange Fruit. Kimberlin’s anthem speaks to a new generation, amplifying Ukraine’s voice through art that refuses to be silent.

By filming in Kyiv — while bombs fell overhead — she reminded the world that art can still demand the impossible: hope, dignity, and peace.
