UAid Direct USA Stands for Ukraine on Capitol Hill

UAid Direct USA Stands for Ukraine on Capitol Hill
This past week, UAid Direct USA was honored to be part of the Ukraine Action Summit in Washington D.C., where our Board Member Rich Comeau joined more than 600 advocates from all 50 states to meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

Representing our Boston-based nonprofit at the Ukraine Action Summit, Rich was proud to stand alongside the Massachusetts Delegation, calling for continued and expanded American support for Ukraine during one of the most pivotal moments in the ongoing war.

Organized by the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU), the Summit focused on direct engagement with members of Congress to ensure that the U.S. continues to stand firmly with Ukraine in its fight for freedom, human rights, and sovereignty.

“Over 444 meetings were held with House and Senate members,” Rich shared. “Support for Ukraine is much more bipartisan than many people think. The proposed Russia Sanctions of 2025 bill had 50 co-sponsors on its first day—25 Republicans and 25 Democrats. The ACU works carefully to treat everyone with respect and professionalism, with a focused message. Congress is listening.”

Key Priorities Advocated on the Hill:

  • Support the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025 (H.R. 2548 and S.1241) – bipartisan legislation that strengthens sanctions and provides security guarantees for Ukraine.
  • Swift implementation of the REPO Act – to enable frozen Russian assets to be used for reparations and rebuilding Ukraine.
  • Demand the immediate return of abducted Ukrainian children – to date, researchers have identified over 19,000 children kidnapped by Russia; the real number is believed to be significantly higher.
  • Condemn Russia’s human rights violations, including:
    •  The criminalization of religious practices in occupied territories. Russia has banned home Bible studies and any faith practices outside of the Russian Orthodox Church.
    • The arrest, torture, and murder of clergy and religious leaders – over 40 clergy have been killed in occupied Ukraine for continuing their faith work.
    • Systematic arrests and oppression in occupied territories, where anyone who resists Russian rule—clergy, journalists, community leaders—faces grave danger.

Thank You to Our Elected Officials

We’re deeply grateful to the Massachusetts Congressional delegation for their continued leadership and strong support of Ukraine.

Special thanks and our sincere gratitude to the Congressmen and Congresswomen:

Your time, your attention, and your willingness to listen mean everything to the Ukrainian people—and to advocates like us who are working on their behalf.  A special thank you to U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren for co-sponsoring S.1241.

At UAid Direct USA, our work extends beyond humanitarian deliveries and emergency relief. We are also committed to advocacy, awareness, and accountability.  Rich’s time in Washington is a reflection of that mission—and of our belief that together, we can influence policy that truly saves lives.

We’re proud to work alongside the American Coalition for Ukraine and so many dedicated advocates who refuse to stay silent.
